If the grade is skip, log the idea as a note instead of forcing size. Process edge compounds; forced trades don’t.

Ask four yes/no questions: Is setup valid? Is invalidation clear? Is size compliant? Is there a known event risk now?

If any answer is no, downgrade or skip. Don’t negotiate with your own gate in real time.

Store the gate result in the journal so you can audit whether low-grade trades underperform.
